New Old Friends

This picture is from earlier this year. Steve and Liz brought some of his stuffed friends home after last Christmas. We all became fast friends, even though they are all a lot older than me. They had been in stasis since before I was born, so it was like time hadn't really passed for them.

This is Daddy Bear, aka Waddums. He's been with us for a while, but I don't know if I had formally introduced him or not. He was very excited to see his old friends again, particularly his wife and three of his sons.

This is Mommy Bear. I like her tongue. She is very sweet, but not very soft and cuddly. Somehow while in stasis, her neck was damaged and she needed surgery. Luckily, Liz was able to make her as good as new without waking her up!

This is Kerby. He was one of Steve's best friends when Steve was little. Here, he's wearing his safari outfit. He was also damaged in stasis (as you can tell by looking at his foot), but not so much that he couldn't be revived right away. Apparently, a long time ago, he was inadvertantly used as a chew toy by Steve's dog, hence his nosejob, courtesy of Steve's Mom. She was so worried about his injuries' affect on Steve that she got him another bear, Kerby's twin Herby.

This is Herby. He looks almost exactly like Kerby, since they are twins (and here, he's even wearing a nightshirt that says "Kerby" on it). I hear that Kerby's old nose looked more like Herby's, but apparently it was a little lighter in color. When he was in stasis, Herby's arm was wedged behind his back for several years. So, when he woke up, he wasn't able to bring it out to where it's supposed to be. Steve and Liz laid Herby on that arm so his weight would fix it. This helped temporarily, and it's still better than it was, but sometimes he still can't help but reach behind himself. I really like Kerby and Herby. They are cool.

This is Brother Bear. He is named that because he looks a lot like Baby Bear did before he was transplanted into a larger bear's body. He is pretty quiet and keeps to himself a lot, but he's very nice. Liz and Steve are considering transplanting him into a larger bear's body. What do you think?

This is...Donald Duck. Everybody knows who he is. Steve got Donald at Disney Land in 1980 or 1981 or so. He's hard to understand sometimes because of his duck-speech, but I like him a lot.

So these are my new old friends. We have a lot of fun together!

I turned 6 on October 17. Here's what we did for my birthday!

For my birthday, I wanted to go trick or treating. (I know it was two weeks before Halloween, but Liz and Steve let me go anyway.) So Liz and Steve got me a new pumpkin costume. It is puffy and comfortable. They also got a mummy costume for my friend Baby Bear. Baby Bear also wanted some glasses, so I guess that makes him the near-sighted mummy. This meant that our friend (and Baby Bear's Dad) Waddums got to wear the witch costume that I wore a few years ago. He had to come along because we needed adult supervision (because it's not safe for babies to trick or treat by themselves).

We got a lot of candy!

Here we are with our full buckets:

It was a fun night.
